BEFORE RENEWAL

Before renewing your signature: check validity and access

Separate the certificate’s validity from a problem using it. A few checks help identify the appropriate next step.

A GOOD START

Prepare the context.
Keep documents private.

  • Read the certificate expiry date.
  • Identify SimplySign or a card.
  • Check access without sharing codes.
01

Read the date from the right place

Use the application that manages your certificate. Purchase dates, software installation dates and the last document signed are not substitutes. If several certificates are shown, establish which one you use.

02

Validity and application behaviour differ

A valid certificate may be affected by workstation configuration. An application that opens normally may still display an expired certificate. Describe these facts separately.

03

Follow the instructions for your solution

The requirements for SimplySign and a card differ. Confirm access before starting. Do not send tokens, PINs or PUKs to demonstrate that access.

04

If it has already expired

Online renewal requires a valid certificate. After expiry, discuss a new-issuance path. Do not assume buying a renewal code automatically restores the old certificate.
